Murphy's Laws of Combat

Jul 11, 2013

1. If the enemy is in range, so are you.

2. Incoming fire has the right of way.

3. Don't look conspicuous, it draws fire.

4. There is always a way.

5. The easy way is always mined.

6. Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

7. Professionals are predictable, it's the amateurs that are
dangerous.

8. The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions:

a. When you're ready for them.
b. When you're not ready for them.

9. Teamwork is essential, it gives them someone else to shoot at.

10. If you can't remember, the claymore is pointed at you.

11. The enemy diversion you have been ignoring will be the main
attack.

12. A "sucking chest wound" is natures way of telling you to slow
down.

13. If your attack is going well, you have walked into an ambush.

14. Never draw fire, it irritates everyone around you.

15. Anything you do can get you shot, including nothing.

16. Make it tough enough for the enemy to get in and you won't be
able to get out.

17. Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than yourself.

18. If you are short of everything but the enemy, you are in a
combat zone.

19. When you have secured an area, don't forget to tell the enemy.

20. Never forget that your weapon is made by the lowest bidder.

21. Friendly Fire Isn't.

Snowmen are Attacking America

Dec 7, 2012

Snowpeople are attacking suburban towns along the eastern seaboard. They have been reported as been extremely hostile, even incidents of the snow people turning on each other for not being cruel enough. Our weapons seem to be powerless against these creatures, out only hope is a snow-dog that has the power within him to melt the snow soldiers in their tracks.

Movie - Blood: The Last Vampire (2009)

Saya after intro fight

In 1970, the four hundred year-old skilled samurai Saya is sent to the Kanto High School in an American military base in Tokyo by the Council, a secret society that has been hunting vampires for centuries. Saya has the appearance of a teenager but is the tormented half-breed creature with the soul of her human father and the powers and need of blood of her vampire mother. She is obsessed to face the powerful demon Onigen that killed her father. In the base, Saya saves Alice McKee, who is the daughter of General McKee and commander of the base, from the attack of several vampires. When General McKee is killed by a member of the Council, Alice runs to the hotel where Saya is lodged. They join forces and go to the countryside to chase Onigen.

So Blood: The Last Vampire is a remake of the short film (of the same name) from 2000 and that was based on an anime.

I enjoyed the movie and unique as the directing style is a type I have not had the pleasure of viewing before. Also the antagonists were a creature cross between demons and vampires, drinking blood and eating flesh, rows of sharp teeth, gargoyle transformations and bloodline lineage among the demon/vampires. Mythology of Vampires deriving from Demons is a somewhat common origin theme and I enjoyed this  interpretation of the two being one in the same.

"The Last Vampire" I am curious to learn what this refers to. There were plenty of Vampires in the movie and when asked if there are anymore vampires out there Saya replies "More than you could possibly imagine." Which leaves my question unanswered. Perhaps by the end of the series Saya hunts all the other vampires to extinction, and she would be the Last Vampire even though she's a half-breed, which we've come to learn can always be trusted.

Hulk vs Thing

Incredible Hulk vs The Thing

Who would win in the battle between The Hulk and The Thing? Two super heros who's key assets are brute force and energy. The Hulk using the power of green and the Thing using the power of orange.

I say the Hulk because he is driven by pure rage and is an unstoppable war machine while The Thing is split between the monster and the man which will ultimately put him at a disadvantage. Secondly, The Thing is made of stone, the Hulk is made of some sort of bulletproof self-regenerating armor which is far better. So yes, the Hulk would beat the Thing every time. Sorry Ben.

Incredible Hulk vs The Thing

However, if The Thing was being backed up by the whole Fantastic Four team it might be a different story. But taking teams into account, The Hulk has a son, a daughter and a bunch of other genetic offspring so the brawl of that magnitude would be awesome.
